Another wonderful chapter and this one has Gareth in it, woot!!!I like the way Gareth talks to Ron about Ginny and Draco's relationship. I think it's important for Ron to understand that everyone deserves another chance and even though he may not like Draco, he shouldn't judge him based on his adolescent years. Hmm, Hermione going to see Arthur. That should be a fun visit.Thanks for the update!!

Hi, Ang! I think it was important for Ron to gain some perspective on Draco, and not react only to the fact that he's dating his sister. I think Gareth and Hermione helped him to look at Draco a little more objectively -- we can hope so, anyway!Glad you enjoyed the chapter! Thanks for reviewing!

As I mentioned in the notes to the first chapter, I believe, this is a sequel to Death's Dominion, an AU year 6 & 7 fic. The events referred to here are from Death's Dominion. A Long Vernal Season is also a sequel to Death's Dominion, and this story overlaps the time period in A Long Vernal Season. So I went AU in Death's Dominion, and I'm just continuing the journey from there! :-)

Sorry. Haven't read Death's Dominion in a while and am waiting for LVS to be completed before I read it. Lost track of where I am in this little trilogy. *pout* ^_^

I suggest that you wait to read Draco's Heart until you've read LVS, then, since much won't make sense and there will be many spoilers for LVS in coming chapters -- unless you don't plan on reading LVS, in which case, read away! You've read "The Sorting of Suzie Sefton"? That has spoilers for Part One of LVS, but it's short, four chapters, and that will be referenced in future chapters of D's Heart. We're up through Part Eight of LVS and have started Part Nine. I think you could easily start it now, if you are planning on reading it, and still have catching up to do later.:-) You could also read "Charming the Scottish Garden" while waiting for LVS to be done -- that has events referenced in LVS, but no spoilers, since it chronologically precedes LVS.
Looks like Draco and Ginny are well on their way to starting something interesting. I hope it works out for both of them because it seems they both need someone. It's still a little hard to see Draco as a reformed guy, though I do think he's trying, but I can see why it might be hard to socialize with Ginny's friends. Can't wait to see where this story is going!

I was looking at the new stories column here and couldn't believe it when I saw that you had started writing another story. You are amazing! I don't know how you do it - but I'm so glad you do:). I like the Ginny/Draco pairing and am interested to see where you take them.

I am glad to read a story with Draco as a major person in it. In canon he was a jerk until the astronomy tower, nice to follow a "nice" Draco. He has had a difficult life and he deserves the second chance he was given and it looks like he is using it well

That's totally cool!!!I've never liked Draco but your "reformed" version of him intrigues me and I'm anxious to see how he develops his relationship with Ginny. I was never a fan of Draco, either, so it's been enjoyable to imagine a new path for him, develop him in a new direction but one that doesn't completely bring him into the realm of the unrecognizable. At any rate, I hope this is an enjoyable little story for you. It's been bouncin' around in my head for a while, so I finally figured I might as well write it. I'm not sure when LVS will be finished, but I'm working away steadily at it! :-) It's difficult to say how long it will take me to finish, despite it being entirely outlined, since my writing time and energy varies a great deal from week to week, so I can't predict how fast I will write the chapters. I'm glad you're interested in LVS! :-)This story will be quite short, likely under 100 pages. Thanks for reviewing.

you posted something! not what I expected (CSG or LVS!!!) but this was good!, I love Ginny and Draco!, maybe because I've never quite liked Harry before, I can't wait to read YOUR version of them!. This was a great start to the fic and I can't wait to read more. Minerva finally did it! I knew she would!, I loved her ideas for the first years, at least I hope that's what it is????.Sam

Well why not?I still find that the "epilogue" of DH was wholly unsatisfying, and I'm not sure I even want to revise the world according to JKR (and the rumors of her sequel or whatever you want to call it).Madam's world is a far better place, IMO.So, CFP!

I wasn't happy with DH as it was, and the epilogue gave me a real "WTF?" moment!I'm glad you like my world . . . it is a vast place, and it keeps overspilling onto the page -- or the computer screen, anyway!Thanks for reviewing! Hmm, that certainly could have gone worse. After his display with Ron, I half expected Harry to write a more scathing letter, though that wouldn't really do any good or win him any brownie points. It sounds like Ginny is really happy with Draco and, like Harry, I hope Draco doesn't change and hurt Ginny. I don't think he will, though.Thanks for the update!

I think Harry is really distressed and sad about this, and what he expressed to Ginny was the best he could do. Like Ginny said, he's not much for writing letters. He's struggling to adjust to the new reality -- the one in which he is no longer just fated to confront Voldemort, but in which he has a wide-open future with a lot of confusing choices -- and to adjust to the changes the new reality has brought to other people. Like when he says that if all that dying meant that some people could change, that would be good -- but even at the same time, remembering the Draco Malfoy he knew, and doubting his motives.Glad you enjoyed the chapter! Harry in this story and Snape in LVS are sort of mirror images of each other, aren't they. Neither one believed they'd survive, or really planned out a life post-War. But it's Snape who's managed to set himself on a decent path, and Harry who's battling self-destruction and depression. Maybe b/c the friends Snape had around him were adults and could give him good advice and counsel and see there was more to him, and he'd lived enough to be able to hear it on some level, while Harry's generation is too young to have that much wisdom. His friends are trying, but Harry just hasn't had enough breadth of life experience to be able to absorb it. He was raised to be one -dimensional and now that dimension is over and he's foundering.

Yeah, they are meeting similar problems, and as you say, they are mirror images in a way.I don't know if it will come out in this story or just in LVS, but one reason Moody stopped by to ask Harry to work for him and give him a hand is that Albus paid him a visit a couple weeks before and was concerned about him. He felt that Harry needed direction and some mentoring, so he suggested to Moody that Harry might do well working for him for a while, kind of help him get on his feet and find his bearings.You're right about the people around Snape & around Harry, and their environment in general, being important for them each to find -- or not find -- their ways.Thanks for the review! I'm glad Albus is intervening, if at a distance. That's exactly what Harry needs. I read all your stories but don't always review. I probably need to come up w/ a new online handle for reviewing higher-rated stories, one that's less well known to be linked to my RL identity and vocation. <g>

awwww, loved loved the last part, they are just too cute!! poor Harry, he's a bit bitter and deluled; she's happy with Draco and she was very clear that Harry is not what she needs or wants. I hope he can see it and move on, it would be a shame if Harry ends up a bitter man after everything that he's lived, he should try and find happiness, he's the boy who lived twice after all lol. I'm so happy that you are updating so soon! I can't wait for the next chapter, and I'm still curious about Hermione and Mr. Weasley, but you won't say anything about it so I'll wait lol. Mm, it is looking up for her so far -- a far cry from the year before with her mother and brother both dead and all that. We'll see how it goes from here -- they don't want to be Romeo and Juliet, after all! LOL!
I loved, loved this chapter! I'm so glad Arthur is taking things so easily and that he's trying to give Draco a chance, it's very nice of him. Ha, you could have called this chapte the Ginny Diaries! Or the Ginny Letters! lolIt will be very interesting to see how Arthur and Draco get along when he comes to the house for dinner. I think it was really good of Hermione to talk to him about Draco and Ginny before he had a chance to learn it from someone else. I'm sure that softened the blow.I'm sure Ginny will feel a lot better now that she's seen Ron won't give her trouble and neither will her dad. Now, there's Harry ....That should be a whole other ball of wax!!!

I thought it would be fun to get Draco's retrospective view of Suzie, especially since his taking a Muggle-born under his wing was one of the things that has shown people how much of the "old Draco" was left behind.It was good thinking on Luna's part to steer Ron away before he had time to react much! But she is a Ravenclaw, even if she's a bit peculiar in her ideas and a little absent-minded, too! She's sharp enough when she needs to be.You know it's been a rough week in a number of ways, but it was fun to polish up a couple chapters of Draco's Heart for posting. LOL, this was funny! I loved how they worked it so that Ron couldn't ask too many questions, it was brilliant of both Ginny and Luna.
