This is very pain-filled chapter for both Severus and Cassandra.  I can understand Severus' need to be by himself to sort out his feelings.  And I understand Cassandra's fear that if he left he would not return.What on earth will Severus decide to do?  A lot hangs in the balance:  • If he chooses not to return, then he will be giving up on the very real chance to have a devoted partner in his life who understands and accepts his past.  • If he chooses to return, he will have to deal with all the memories he has neatly filed away in a part of his mind that he doesn't have to deal with.Will Severus find the courage, and perhaps even more important, the will to return to the woman he has come to love?Great story!!!Beth

The word "Muggle" certainly gave away his position to her. I can hardly wait for their next face to face conversation.Great story.

I normally don't read anything but Hermione/Snape fix but somehow found my way to this one. I am very much enjoying it although part of me keeps expecting Hermione to appear and steal his heart.

Oh dear, oh dear, and all went to pieces from there... poor Severus, it's all so hard for him. You describe his social and "romantic" inabilities so nicely and truly, my heart truly went out to him in this situation... poor bugger. One can only hope that Cassandra is realising his insecurity and inexperience, and is going to be generous about it...

Great chapter! I'm glad he's rid of the beard, though, I simply can't imagine him being a beard-type at all. Thought I did think of a full beard. Of course, the Sheriff-Style might suit him quite good...
And HOW interesting that Nicodemus likes him all of a sudden... but who does not want to see, does not see at all, does he? ;o) But it's so nice that the party acts as a cataclyst and speeds up their relationship - and helps Snape to do what he really wants to inside. Men are just soooo complicated -  yes, I stand to that. My own is to the extreme, at least. ;o)

Oh wow!  With what I know from chapter seven, I'm forming a whole new opinion of Cassandra.  There isn't time as an admin to read all of the previous chapters before doing a chapter, but I'm really glad I took the time to come back to this one.  I love your Cassandra.

I love that you make her inviting him over to tea - and am wondering how he will like it, as my Severus prefers Lapsang Souchong ;o).
The last paragraph is very sweet, him being nervous about phoning her. I like it very much how you tell your story and make things work.

Lovely to give Minerva this role and to have her played it in this way. I would have liked her to do exactly this and would have wished her to be able to safe him.... *sniff*
