What an interesting concept. A time turner story where she doesn't go back. Would you consider a sequel where we find out what life was like in say 1997 -- If Severus wasn't there to hear part of the prophecy, would the Potters (and Longbottoms) even be targets? Intriguing ideas... Thanks for posting. JoAnne

I may or may not continue with a sequel. Actually I rather like to keep it a one-shot like this. Sorry to disappoint, but perhaps I'd better leave it to my readers' imagination than to write something below their expectation. :) Thank you for your review, I truly appreciate it! :)

I enjoyed this vignette a lot, although it's hard for me to picture Hermione tossing the whole let's-defeat-Voldemort idea under the bus, just like that. Still, I liked how it ended on that enigmatic note, with the Time-Turner ticking. It changed the situation from a nice little day in the country to something much more mysterious.

Perhaps there is something that happened in the future that made Hermione decided with this. Either way, she had gone way before everything started. If you noticed, Severus had not even taken the Dark Mark yet. Who knows there's someone else for the spy job? Maybe the prophecies would even be different ... Saving Snape -- making sure he's alive -- make him fall in love with you -- marry him and make him happy ... you bet he's worth it! Dumbledore was good at manipulating people, I'm sure he could find another victim ... ;)

Whoa. The entire time, I'm thinking, Where is she going with this? What is coming? It felt... taut. Like something was waiting to pounce. And it was. I won't spoil it for those who like to read reviews first, but my, my.
And I would have to say, if pressed, that I would probably do the same. Interesting little story you've got here! This will have me thinking tomorrow.

I wanted to do something different when the 'homesick' challenge was up in GS100 and this was what my muse directed me.
I wouldn't have dream of writing a time-turner fic. Just reading others make my head ache, lol. But I'm very honoured that you find this interesting. :) I was scared most fan couldn't see Hermione doing something as drastic as this, but hey, this is just another story--my intepretation to how far people willing to sacrifice for their loved one.
Such an interesting story. Poor homesick Hermione keeping Severus happy and away from his nemisis. And we know that may enormously change things in the future (present) wow, I like this idea. it could really become a fascinating longer tale. I love 'what-ifs' and this one's a lulu. I've thought about the 'what if Snape never jonined the DEs" plot before. But the time turner idea is brilliant.

I'm curious too, lol! But seriously, to answer your question, it is suffice to say that Hermione saw what happened to a great man - wasted away because of love-lost. Somehow, she managed to acquire a time-turner (don't ask me how!). Afraid that the fate were already set into motion, she had gone way before he joined the DE - Severus was 15 then, and she was older than him by two years, at least. She befriended him and influenced him to leave Hogwarts after graduation. Hmm, yeah, that's the short, direct and plain backstory to this. lol.But thank you for your review. :)

I liked it. I'm with everyone else. This sounds like a great premise for a much longer story.
