okay, i've picked myself up off the floor, cleaned off the keyboard, and am now able to say - this is one of the funniest scenes i've ever read!  i love little purdy.  oh, and i really enjoyed the beginning, where severus hurt so bad and it was just the overexertion.  i admit i am of an age where i can relate a little too much.  :D

Instead of just telling Burbage that she had to "keep the old guard happy," I wish Hermione had told him explicitly to put the Bloody Betty's portrait back where it had hung for the last who-knows-how-many years.Burbage is up to no good!  What kind of oath would he have taken other than the Oath of Allegiance to Slytherin House?  Purdy is the most wonderful House Elf, and she will stop at nothing to see that her Headmaster gets what he wants -- and he wants the Headmistress.  Now about that locked room... Hummm...  This is going to be fun!Great story, and I'm lovin' it!Beth

Oh, what will the elves do now? This is perfect -- elf interference, plus a slow burn between Headmaster (oops, Professor) and Headmistress, PLUS a Slytherin Head of House who seems to radiate smiling menace. It's a great series and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Phineas has a problem, and Purdy has a plan!  A pretty promising part of your story!  Alliteration aside, I really liked it.  I wonder what Burbage is up to.  I really like the interaction with the portraits and house elves.
