This is my response for the Dictionary Drabbles Fun Challenge for March 22.

Teehehe You think so? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hermione Apparated to her flat, looking up at the dark building, but her mind was still consumed with thoughts of Severus Snape. 'Damn, why didn't he? I had hoped... But then you didn't ask him, did you?' She turned on the spot, deciding to go ask him anyway. "Oh, just pluck up the courage! Maybe I can talk him into it," she said to herself as she Apparated to his home, er, lab. * Severus stood on the spot where Hermione had just vanished, wishing there was a tracking spell of some kind to enable him to follow her. Julianne Whitby and Sturgis Podmore were coming outside, looking quite besotted. He ducked back into the shadows to avoid them, realizing they had the same thing in mind. Severus chose to Apparate to Spinner's End rather than to see them start snogging. He arrived just as someone else did, mumbling to herself '...maybe I can talk him into it?' "Talk him into what, Miss Granger?" he answered smoothly, amused as she spun around startled. "To dance," she exclaimed. "How? I – did you? Are – hi." She was enchanting, standing on the path, her hair swept up in an elegant coiffure with a pencil stuck in it, looking at him with hope in her eyes. He smiled as he pulled her into his arms. "I'd love to," he replied and Apparated them inside his house.

Severus alone to ponder Lucius’ need for the Exfoliative Potion.And that is indeed worth pondering. I shall also ponder whether there is any hope of Snape keeping Hermione from determining what the potion is and for whom it is being brewed.

Oh, goody! Ginny's in on the intentional seduction-via-apprenticeship plan. I can't wait to see what they come up with for the nightshirt. It's funny how she's so intent on her seduction attempts that she doesn't even realize that they are indeed working!

next to the Halcyon nest he’d found with his mum on one of their few summer outingsYou sneaky little thing. You not only got it in there, but made it a sweet memory of his childhood. Amazing.I love your slightly befuddled Snape. She just grabs the slightest opportunity she can find and he wonders how that happened. I can't help but wonder how much lingerie shopping she did to find that traditional, yet alluring nightwear. Now she's invited herself out to dinner. If she hadn't been a muggleborn, I do believe she might have been sorted into Slytherin!

Those are certainly some prime Snapian vocanulary words! So Ron's never around, but he's fed up with Hermione not being at his beck and call. I can feel Hermione rankling at that from here.

“Next time I’ll leave you questions to answer and access to the necessary books.” Oops! I wonder how long it will take Snape to realize that to Hermione that's paradise, not grunt work. Has he even noticed that she manuevered him into letting her brew the potion instead of just doing all the unpleasant work?

OMG! You used two words to name the potions. That's brilliant! “Xenophobia, to be precise. Not an advantageous phobia for someone who works in the International Association of Quidditch. He already has a self-incriminating complex from that hideous excrescence growing on his forehead.” Wow! My jaw actually dropped in admiration for sneaking those two words in before I started laughing at the poor guy's misfortune.

I am always in awe of anyone who can do these dictionary prompts and slip them in so it sounds quite natural. Hermione and Severus are perfect for this, though, as no one thinks twice when brilliant people use long or odd words. Excellent work. I think I'll play a game and see if I can guess any of the prompt words on the next one. Very nice use of both meanings of "repine", by the way.

Wow! Did she just out-Slytherin the Slytherin? One of these days he will learn to stop baiting the Gryffindors. They always rise to the challenge and the smart ones will turn the tables on you. Incredible start and a fabulous job of laying out the premise in so few words!

I've been so bad not reading and reviewing. But it's splendid to have several chapters to read all at once! Real life slows down for many in the summer, but not for me, it's sped up. I'm trying to keep up with the contest entries at least, and possibly even get around to writing one of my own. Anyway, I really like this story. I think this chapter was very nicely done. Lovely to see Snape let his guard down and talk to Hermione about stuff. (I hope he liked the answers he got.) very sweet exchange.
