“I will not deny that I returned to the — You-Know-Who’s service. There would be no point to it.” He leaned forward in his chair. “Mr. Brown, I am, by nature, a selfish man. That is why I returned to his service.”... Can Lucius talk himself out of jail?

I picked up the Harry Potter fandom around the time the first movie came out and began writing fanfic early 2005 after discovering the adult online community. I identify most closely with the Slytherins and you will see my taste in writing lends me to writing about Slytherins more often than not. In addition to fanfiction, I also make fanvids on the Harry Potter fandom. I'm a Perfect Imagination acredited beta and am willing to help authors. My main 'ship interests are Snape/OC (never really got into the SS/HG pairing) and LM/any female (with HG as a new favorite). I have dabbled in RL/OC and RL/NT and am okay with those pairings. I generally shy away from slash, just not my thing. For updates on my writing, check out my Live Journal

It is perfectly easy to see Lucius doing *exactly* this.

Isn't it? I just knew there would be no way he would allow himself to remain in jail. He just needed the right angle to get out. Now that we've seen how Lucius who didn't spend a year as a prisoner in his own house would behave, I have a wonderful idea to see how things would go for him taking DH into account. Just might take a little while to get there with some other ongoing projects, but keep an eye out for it.

This is a brilliant little character study! I love it when people delve behind canon like this, especially when it's done so well!

Thank you. I love the fact that Lucius was written ambiguous enough that he can be interpreted many different ways. I love the idea of him talking his way out of prison (this is in an AU where his house was not overrun and he wasn't completely broken). I have some ideas to work on a piece that addresses the completely broken Lucius we see in DH and what becomes of him, but I have other ideas that have to be addressed first.

Thank you. I had so much fun trying to figure out how he might talk his way out of prison. After all, you don't really expect him to remain there, do you?

Lucius Malfoy: The Ultimate Slytherin. Very well played, that man! :)

After all one would expect less, from a Malfoy.

So very true. That goodness badness can't stay locked up in Azkaban forever, could it?

I liked this a lot. In fact, this small one-shot would made a good prelude to a longer story, if you were so inclined. You leave a reader wondering what, exactly, does Snape think of Lucius's machinations?

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. Now the muses are curious as to doing a companion piece from Snape's POV. It'll have to wait a bit since I have so much other stuff going right now and Work Release actually deals with a wrongfully imprisoned Snape, though Lucius really doesn't factor into that one.

Oh, that is so Lucius. I like it.

Thank you. I just knew that there weas no way Lucius would allow himself to remain imprisoned. And with Voldie finally gone, he could say what he needed in order to secure his freedom.

Why that sneaky little....well, it WAS Lucius afterall. He probably can talk his own poo around to not stinking.Great job!!!

LOL He probably could. In one of my other stories, I had Hermione come to the conclusion he could sell water the merpeople. Amazing how someone can admit to being selfish and still convince the bureaucrats to let him have his way, isn't it? Have to applaud his honesty.

LOL! I like his style! If you look up the term "spin-doctor" in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of our Lucius... wearing a sly smile. Beth

Yes, you surely would. I just loved how he manipulated the whole thing and twisted everything around to help himself. Heck even offering to pay restitution helped himself look better and made the Ministry look like it wasn't caving. I really had a lot of fun with this side of Lucius.
