Remus Lupin Severus Snape

How do Snape and Lupin spend the holidays? This story visits our couple during two Christmases: The first takes place during OotP; the second during DH. This is a companion piece to Evening Shadows, which was a sequel to The Hardest Words, and will make more sense if you've read those first.

my catalyst into the world of hp fanfic was the ignominious death of severus snape by snakebite in dh.  grrrrr.  he deserved better, and i set off on a mission to find it!   i appreciate and admire the vast and limitless creativity of all of the wonderful writers on this site and in this fandom.

accordingly, for me it's mostly about snape: ss/le, ss/hg, ss/rl are my favorite ships.  i especially like happy endings for those who did not get them at the hands of jkr.

Not my favorite ship, but you write very well. :)

Response from kittylefish (Author of Evening Shadows: Yule Edition)

i'm glad you could appreciate the writing even though you don't like the ship.  it means a lot, especially from you.  :D

You made my heart wrench with the lines:"Much later, he realized that as the light diminished, it left something behind – a hole that cried out to be filled. As love and laughter and joy began to abandon him, they were replaced by an emptiness that swiftly became unbearable."I believed that's the most eloquent and precise description of Severus's turn towards the Dark Arts. I loved the rest of the story, too. I'm crossing my fingers that this particular universe isn't canon compliant... but I fear it is.

thanks so much for your review, and for singling out that particular image. :)

this particular story was conceived as canan compliant, but it was also originally a one-shot, so who knows? if the characters tell me something different, i'll be sure to share it.

Oh! Lovely fic!  Snape's insights and Christmas memories were very moving. I love the way you write these two together!!!**blush** You also write very hot sex scenes! Yummy! :)

Response from kittylefish (Author of Evening Shadows: Yule Edition)

thanks so much!  i was very happy with how this turned out.  as soon as i saw the yule challenge, this story started forming in my mind.i love this pairing - during the course of writing these stories, i came to realize that it's probably my favorite.and -  it seems i really love writing the smut.  *blushes, too*

I'm a huge fan of the Snape/Lupin pairing and was very happy to find this story among the Yule Challenge submissions. And what a wonderful story it was. Sad, yes, but also comforting to know that they each got a bit of happiness during that awful last year. And I love Snape's adivce to Remus ... he really is a man of honour.I truly enjoyed this. Thank you so much for sharing.

thank you so much for your wonderful review! it's like finding an extra special present under the tree after i thought christmas was over. i know it's bittersweet, but i'm glad you found it comforting, too. and snupin is not the most popular pairing, so it's nice to get the positive feedback. *admires shiny, pretty stars*

As you know, I am a big Snupin fan, and I really loved your idea to show us their first and their last Christmas. How bitter to know that they are both supposed to die soon after that. But then, there is fanfiction. We always find a way.Beautifully written, dear. And merry Christmas from Germany!

Response from kittylefish (Author of Evening Shadows: Yule Edition)

it is so very gratifying to know that you appreciate this story. i know it's sad, and i hope now that i've gotten this out of my system, i'll be able to write something happier. thanks so much for your encouragement.

and merry christmas to you too! *hugs*
