I am deeply impressed by the despair you manage to put at every word. From the begining I knew It couldn't finish with a happy end despite the little spark of hope he gave to her.

i love lily and severus stories, so was excited to find this one, and it was very poignant and moving, and fairly well written - except i also was confused at the end. i figured james was home with harry and that was the night that voldemort would strike. having said that, what i found confusing is that the way the last two sentences read, it seemed to me like severus KNEW what voldemort was planning, like he knew he was sending her to her death. having read your responses to other reviews, i realize that was not your intent.

Thanks for reviewing! Honestly, I'm not sure how I intended the end to be interpreted. I'm not sure if Severus knew that Lily was the target for sure, because at the time, there was nothing special about the Potter's that would prompt Voldie to "plan" to go after them. Ya`know? Maybe Severus could feel that Voldemort was there or on the way via creepy tattoo. My full intent for the ending was really just to show that Severus didn't really believe they would be able to get away together, loved Lily very much, and felt helpless. The details are definitely up for discussiom. :)

Although this was poignant and sad, I'm afraid it left me a bit confused. Where is James? And is Snape horrible enough to be kissing her and declaring his love when he knows she will die that night?I'm just puzzled.

Response from cheapxdate (Author of Love's Last Meeting)

I left the ending open to intepretation, but I wrote it with the following intention:James is home with Harry. Later that night, Voldemort's infamous attack on the Potters takes place. I don't really know if Snape *knows* she will die that night. I think he knows that he can not protector her and is giving her the only thing he can - hope. Neither of them really believe that they will run away, escaping together - but that is what makes it so sadly romantic. At the time the Potters weren't anything "special", so I doubt Voldemort said "hey Snape, I'm going after the Potters tonight". I just think that Snape knows that no one is safe and it is only a matter of time before she is put in harms way.Hopefully that  clears things up a bit!

where's James?  Is he dead already?

Response from cheapxdate (Author of Love's Last Meeting)

I purposely left it open to interpretation. If I had to draw a conclusion, I'd say James is home with Harry and later that night Voldemort's attack on the Potters would take place.

Thank you!Snape knew he couldn't protect her, so he gave her the very best thing he could - hope.
