I Turned Away
Chapter 3 of 3
SeventhSeverus finds himself happier than he has ever been.
ReviewedWalking away from that Veil had been the best decision Severus had ever made. The tears which were running down his lover's cheeks were enough to prove it.
Blinking his eyes several times to get used to the light in the hospital, he turned to look at Hermione.
"I turned away, Hermione. You asked me to and I walked away," he said softly, smiling up at the young woman currently occupying the seat beside his bed.
"I know, Severus, and I'm so glad you did," she whispered, leaning down to capture his lips in a soft kiss. He kissed her back gently, then pulled away from her, tired after such a short demonstration of affection.
"You need to rest, love," he said quietly.
"I need to know you'll still be here when I wake up," she replied, eyes filling with tears that were threatening to cascade down her cheeks once more.
"I'll be here, I promise. I can't turn away from you," he murmured.
He closed his eyes and was drifting off to a peaceful sleep when he heard her voice purr softly.
"Why can't you turn away, Severus?"
"I love you too much," was his sleepy reply.

I'm so glad he chose to return to Hermione. I think living is a more a courageous thing than dyng (when you have the choie of course).
I really liked how you described Lily's voice as hers but lacking the emotion. It shows how things through the veil aren't as they seem.
That was a very sweet ending.

Short chapter but still beautiful - You had me goign with the first to chapters - you made me wonder if he would choose Lily or Hermione.

Thanks. :) I could write longer chapters but at the moment I'm going through a rough time. Writing helps me to calm down a bit, but I'm finding I have less and less time for writing.

That's the most beautiful gift anyone can give : total and unconditional love which include letting the other go away if it makes him happier. I just hope he chose life over death.

This story was inspired by my fiancé, who has shown me the same love as you describe. I stopped breathing a few months ago, before christmas, and when I awoke my fiancé was telling me that if I needed to go then he would gladly let me leave. Being the idiot that I am, I sat up about 5 minutes later and said "I would go with or without your consent, Jay," I made him cry and laugh at the same time, which was funny.

Honestly - I like the story but the chapters are a bit small - this chapter and the first could have been combined as one chapter - you have an interesting plot line but more words are needed - great original thinking and terrific concept but make it a little longer with descriptions, feelings and points of view and such.
Oh man - small chapter but a cliffie - I love it when they start with a little mystery

I hope that was the right choice then. Lily doesn't sound to good and I wouldn't trust that voice, it might not be who he thinks. Hermione will always be there for him.
Choices? Should he pick the woman that picked another or the one that could give him what he deserves? Where is no choice to make here, come on man think.

The Severus in my story seems to be caught inbetween love he used to feel for Lily Potter nee Evans, and the love he does feel for Hermione Granger now. I think being caught inbetween life and death would be a little confusing for anyone! :)
