Hello. I love reading and writing... what more can I say?
Reviews for Enduring Recovery
I liked the way this ended, it gives hope that they may get together at some later date, and that Severus has faced and overcome most of his demons, which he needed to do before considering a relationship.

Thank you for the review and staying with the story to the end :) You are quite right, more than you realise, I suspect :D. Lachesis is a homeopathic remedy, if you're interested in a little research :), it may enhance some of the elements of the story, but it's not required.
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
I see what you mean re lachesis and the personality type!
Finally the mystery of the potion has been uncovered. It was a great story, but of course I would have preferred more action than a kiss...But a really neat plot.Thank you!gab
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I'm sure that many readers would have liked something more than a kiss... lol, but I felt that given the circumstances anything more would have spoilt what they were buidling; there would have been an unpleasant element of vulnerablilty being confused for wanting. Thank you for the compliment :), and you're welcome; I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
I was hoping for a 'happily ever after,' but you have given us a lovely story, nevertheless. I bet everyone will be asking for a sequel. I really enjoyed this tale and hope you do well in the competition. (Am I allowed to say that here?) It's more realistic than most fanfiction, I think. People DO have problems after witnessing deaths and being tortured. You story is ultimately hopeful and lovely. Thank you.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review, the stars and the compliment. My beta said as much about a sequel, and given that I decided to cut sections out so that it would be complete in time for voting, I may very well write one :) Thank you; I hope it does well too... although, the reviews here have been more than lovely.
The complex, emotional dance these two go through. I love that he was listening to her talk as she contemplated the potion. I hope he opens up to Hermione though. Maybe then they can find a cure?
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. The last chapter is up; I hope that it answers some questions. Thank you for reading the story and the comments you have given, they have been very encouraging and much appreciated :)
You are so guessed with a 110% certainty now! (And it's not even the same guess I had before...)
I thought it was a good idea to show the funeral from only the POV of the emotions Severus recieved from her. It cut out the sappy sadness that such scenes can turn into if the writer isn't careful and just made it really harsh and painful and overwhelming instead, I think.
I curious as to Severus' theory of her uncontrollable anger being like a different entity. It sounds like she's possessed. I wonder how and by what...
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I wonder if you are right? In a way, I am incredibly flattered; it is quite a staggering compliment. I am sussed! lol... I did indeed do the scene in that manner to cut out a lot of narrative which would not have helped the story as a whole. To my mind, the emotions that she was feeling and Snape's own responses and thoughts were far more important.
There are trees, in the American northwest that have an odd way of procreating. They have what we would think of as a perverted need. They need fire. It is only when the bark and branches are being scorched by the flames that the cones naturally pop open, releasing their seeds. Of course, it takes a while for the flames to climb the trees as they are very tall. So when the seeds finally fall to the forest floor, the floor itself has already been swept clear of stifling undergrowth, weeds, and fallen deadwood by the firestorm that has already burnt itself out and left behind the cleared beds of ash-enriched soil. The fire makes the forest possible. I think you are portraying a universal truth here and doing it brilliantly (while I on the other hand am waxing pendantic. Don't you just hate it when that happens?)By all means proceed with vigor!
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the beautiful review. The trees which face the fire to release their seeds are the epitome of that sometimes severe relationship which guarantees their place within this world. I must admit that the first thing that sprang to my mind when you mentioned fire was the philosophy of burning fields after harvest. The fields here are sometimes set to burn, you can see the smoke billowing out and the dazzling line of the consuming fire creeping across the harvested land, all in the idea that the fire will nourish the earth ready for the next crop. I think, if I am understanding you correctly, that the fire not only destroys the clinging and suffocating mess that would inhibit future growth, but also yield that seed which will develop all the better and all the stronger for the fire.
This is another beautiful chapter. And the last paragraph was overwhelming. The way you describe his feelings, especially the last words and how he's desperate to have a family: they're simply brilliant.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I admit that the flow is something of an instinctive thing at the moment; I feel as though I am caught up in some current, but it's fun and seems to be giving me some interesting viewpoints. :)
Oh my...
Powerful and brilliant chapter. Without Hermione being physically present, you presented her POV in an inescapable way. The way things changed as the potion wore off was amazingly sad. The whole chapter was moving.

Thank you for the review and the compliment :)

What an emotional rollercoaster. Even through her torment he was still haivng to deal with his own anger and guilt. I do hope Hermione startsleaning to control her rage and that she starts facing reality better.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review and the stars. Hermione has made some major steps, and I can't be too hard on her given what she has suffered over the last year. However, she does need to learn a few things... for her own sake.
So much grief and overwhelming emotions. I hope these two can heal each other, but first they need to heal Severus before he bleeds to death on the floor.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. It's almost habit-forming for him! lol. I have a cunning plan with regards to the wound... hope that you'll stay with the story and more importantly, that you enjoy it! :)
Wow. This story just gets better. Hermione better pull it together and act quick to save him!
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I feel as though I'd be flayed alive if anything bad happened to Snape--you're all so protective of him... lol.
Response from NervousAboutAngels (Reviewer)
Don't worry, I don't say it as a demand- just expressing my response. I understand you have to beat him up for plot reasons. We're kind of his best friends and worst enemies in that way. Lol
I've just read the first two chapters through, andthey're wonderful! You have an ability to createthe tiny details of character and place that makea story live. And it was never feasible that Naginicould have killed Severus - of course he would have developed an anti-venom potion, especiallyafter Arthur Weasley's attack (and if Arthur lived, why wouldn't Severus?).
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review and the compliment. There is a critical difference between Arthur and Snape, and that has been exploited...
Another great chapter! Awesome work. I am really looking forward to the next one. Keep up the good work.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you very much :)
I hope that will get her out of her trans because he will need her brain to find a cure. Also can I hope for a bit less dark for the next ?
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you again :) Ermm... less dark. All I can say is that they need to do a bit more before they see the light at the end of the tunnel.
another powerful chapter, keep Hermmione more focused now
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review and the stars.
When you posted this first chapter I just saved it for when I have time. I deeply regret that I didn't have time earlier. I'm very impressed by the whole chapter and especially what happened in the Headmaster's office. I could feel the despair from your words. It's just brilliant.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review and the awesome compliment.
What an incredibly intense chapter that built inexorably to the Evil Cliffhanger at the end. Oh, merciful heavens, update soon!
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I believe that they are nearing the peak of their woes, what they see when they get their is up to them. I will update as soon as possible.
Oh my, now that was a revelation!
Brilliant chapter.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I think that Snape would have been plagued with all the 'what-ifs' and 'if-onlys' in his life. To my mind, Harry would have represented a very big 'what-if'.
Oh my. Why this isn't called 'Catharsis' I don't know - for the writer, the reader and the characters. Need to go away and make a cup of coffee before re-engaging mind with RL. Very, very, good.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I did consider that title, but I love word-play and so decided to use Enduring Recovery; some dark, ironic humour at play. Hope you enjoyed your coffee, and thank you :)
I love the way your Severus is finally undergoing a refining process, as if the last appoximately 20 years of his life had been a potion-limited step in his development. Hermione really reminds me of a wild horse, full of promise and very dangerous and he has chosen to gentle and refine that that break and conquer. I am really looking forward to the next step.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I loved your analysis of Snape's life and it applies so well--I wonder if he struggles now that he sees himself free to do what he chooses. The wait is over and the next ingredient can be added... and it appears to be Hermione! I am not used to writing so quickly, this spur-of-the-moment writing to a deadline is quite a thrill for me, and the reviews are shifting my own boundaries; they create new vistas. I am enjoying the journey and the amazing views... thank you :)
Incredible chapter! You did a wonderful job of expressing him feeling her emotions, and his reactions and thoughts. So well-written, and that little surprize at the end, a bit of self-knowledge forced from the poor man. Excellent!
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you :) Sometimes a wound has to be lanced... honesty is a good a scalpel as any.
This was a very powerful chapter. I still don't think Snape knew what he was getting into when he took on her emotions. I hope they can figure out why he is not healing.I also think you hit the nail on the head with Snape hating Harry because he could have been his!
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. In this instance, he acted upon motive rather than fear of consequence.
Great emotional chapter - good ending with Severus saying why he hated Harry from the beginning. Cannot wait to see what happens to them both. The neck thing is so gross - I wonder why it does not heal? There is something to that in this story I imagine
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review and the stars. The neck thing is rather nasty and it will be explained. Thank you once again, I hope you enjoy the next few chapters
Your descriptive imagery is astounding! I didn't read this chapter...I felt it.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review and the compliment :)
That was difficult to read, all those emotions swirling. But it is very powerful, and boy, they really have put it all out there, haven't they?
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. Perhaps they know what is at stake and thus risk all? Personally, I have no idea... I think the term is 'winging it'... lol.
