I feel like this sets the scene for what could be a short story, but it's not quite there yet.  I gather the girl staring at the man is a tennant, or daughter of the tennant of the man, but what happens from here?  I could see all sorts of possibilities, but without a little more background information, it's hard.  Why don't they have anywhere else to go?  This all just raises a bunch of questions but gives no answers or even enough information about the situation to draw any real conclusions.  It could be something really interresting with more work, I think. :-)
