I'm a forty-something American woman who is addicted to the SSHG pairing, relatively new to this fandom. I'm also considering starting some original fiction soon...

Lol! Actually, over here poker isn't such a universal thing, but it would be very Hermione to hustle Lucius, and the whole back-firing plan is very Lucius.Best of all is the way that Sraco just assumes that his dad has been having a secret affaire with Hermione and that they sloped off together for a dirty weekend, despite Hermione's involvement in the wedding plans...

I have a secret weakness for HG/LM stories (even though they require you to suspend your disbelief) and this one is adorable! I love the way in which Hermione-the-Muggleborn was able to trick Lucius-the-Pureblood and keep him on his toes, even thoough that would probably have made him seethe (inwardly -- Malfoys do not seethe outwardly!) in canon. I'm sure Lucius would never have dreamed that a Muggleborn would be able to beat him at anything (never mind strip poker)!

I must say that I am not a fan of Lucius and Hermione, but I had a very fun time reading this. The conversation is intelligent, the situation awkward, and best of all is poor Draco who rushes in to rescue Hermione, only to find her in bed with his father. Poor guy. Still, it keeps Lucius distracted enough to probably care very little about who is son marries, so everyone wins.

Wonderful job. I just loved the banter between the two of them and poor Lucius when he realized his plan backfired and he got Hermione instead of Lucius. Of course the ending begs for more and now I'm off to read more. This really is my favorite pairing.
