The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall is on a temporary hiatus. Look for an update in winter 2012!
Reviews for Lightning Strike
A very powerful read. My heart goes out to them. Excellent drabble.

Thanks so much!
Aw, that was a touching moment between the Black sisters.

Nicely done. Families already have enough tension without an outside source adding more. I found the 'obliviate me' part heart-breakingly sad.

Oh, how bittersweet that the sisters can't speak to each other, but the love that ties them together will always be there. And a good explanation for what happened to Bellatrix.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Lightning Strike)
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it.
oh, how sad! The don't speak for years, then Cissy will never remember it. :(
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Lightning Strike)
It is. Thank you for reading, deb!
The bond between sisters - it runs so deep - and the bond of motherhood they share, could only serve to make their connection even stronger... I appreciate that you've given them both dimension. I suspect the scales truly fell from Cissa's eyes when Bella boasted how she'd gladly sacrifice her child, if she had one, to the wishes of the Dark Lord - and having none, Draco would do nicely.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Lightning Strike)
JKR doesn't touch on these sisters often, but when you think about them - and what they go through - it's just horrific. Having that bond ravaged, losing your children, even the threat of losing your children - suffice it to say, there are a lot of depths to explore with the Black sisters, and I'm thrilled that this effort 'worked.'
I really like this, a very nice interaction. Was Bella the eldest daughter of a youngest daughter?
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Lightning Strike)
Thank you! And yes, that was the intended implication. :-)
Oh, my...this was touching and bittersweet. I like the fact that Narcissa hasn't become a monster like Bellatrix. By chance, was Bella a victim of the curse you mention...the one about the eldest daughter of a youngest daughter? It's also not hard to see why Voldemort would want Nymphadora, half-blood or not -- a Metamorphmagus could be incredibly useful to people like the Death Eaters.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Lightning Strike)
Yes, it was the intended implication that Bella suffers from a curse. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!
Lovely scene between the sisters! What a scary thought, those Black family curses! But I loved the tenderness of their meeting, the care they still express for one another, and the care Narcissa took to protect Andromeda.

! I'm so very pleased that you enjoyed it. (I do love the idea of Black family curses.)
Wonderful. Powerful. Poignant. Love this human insight into rarely depicted characters and their intimate dilemmas; love the elder daughter's curse & of course Voldy would love to bend & use a Metamorphmagus to his will. Love the *love* between the two sisters - beautifully done

Such wonderful words! ~flushes~ Thank you so much,

This broke my heart. Voldemort is a good riddance. You incorporated Narcissa's canon tendencies very well into this. She is beginning to ascertain the thin revolt that will blossom in the final battle. It's poignant and illustrates what war means very well.

What an amazingly complex back story for so few words - wonderful use of the characters!

Thank you so much!
Definitely different. Ominous and sad, but touching too. Well done.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Lightning Strike)
Thank you! I had all these ideas bouncing around in my head and was a bit worried about getting them down on paper (screen?) clearly - so glad it worked.
Oh, wow.

Damn, that was good! I feel so badly - having three daughters myself. They are extremely close, and I tell them to cherish that gift because it can go away so easily. It's wonderful to read that they're still trying to remain close (sans Bella)- despite choosing different sides.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Lightning Strike)
I have a sister myself, and the Black sisters have always resonated with me - the sheer tragedy of what they're put through. JKR was merciless with them, truly. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
This is perfect. IMO, there isn't enough good stuff about the three Black sisters. I'm glad you added such a nice and real story.

Oh... this is... so terribly heart-wrenching, to see sisters torn apart like this and yet so clearly want something better. Andromeda's reactions when her sister asks for Obliviation are particularly wonderful: initially heartbroken, thinking Narcissa wants to forget her, then the realisation that Narcissa's asking in order that she may protect her.And the litany of Black family curses? Well done, especially Bellatrix's manifestation of madness and Tonks' abilities, and the knowledge that Voldemort going after them because of it all. This is such a pearl of a story. Thank you.

(can I also say I've been a fan of your drabbles throughout LDWS?). I had a lot of ideas about their family and was worried about condensing with clarity, as it were - so very glad it came off well. Your comments have put a smile on my face.
Response from ofankoma (Reviewer)
Clarity? Oh, yes, exceptional clarity. You pack quite a punch in so few words, although... I do wish you'd consider writing more on the Black sisters in the future. They're so different from one another, and to think they were all raised in the same home... Such potential there! (And thanks for your kind words, which put a smile on my face... as someone who's never drabbled before and never wrote a fictional word before a few months ago, I'm afraid I've been woefully out of my depth here since week one.)
So sad for the Black sisters to be forced to keep their distance from each other, when they both still care for one another.

I think so, too. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
