I woke up with Simon & Garf' 'Patterns' running through my head, and then I saw your story - weird things like that get me intrigued, so of course I read it. I spent a few minutes just recognising little bits like 'up a narrow flight of stairs' and following all the other little bits and pieces that you have used. I didn't get to 'until the Rat dies' until after you revealed it was Peter Pettigrew. Brilliant mix of song/poem from when Pettigrew possibly could have been in school.

I wrote Patterns years ago. Before OotP came out, even. And in all that time, you're the first person who has ever recognized the song that inspired it! Glad you liked it!
Very well written. I tried to guess who the person writing in his/her journal were before I reached the end, but I wasn't even close:-))
Totally happy to see that you are still writing fanfic, I hope we'll get to read even more of your talented writing in the future. (and if you think that comment was a badly veiled hint, you are probably rigth, I would do cartwheels if I saw a new update to "the Varlet":-)))

Well, yes. Except that Patterns was originally written right after GoF came out, and we didn't know that.

I picked Peter halfway down. Definitely a possibility as to why he turned dark. :)
