I am a relative newcomer to the world of Harry Potter Fan Fiction. I recently discovered the good 'ship HG/SS, and I've been hooked to the point where it is my OTP.
I was a Ruth Kirschstein NRSA post-doctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. When I am not at the lab bench or in the classroom, I am an organist. I'd be in a church near me, occupying an organ bench, and blowing dust around the nave. (Just kidding.) Currently, I serve as organist/choirmaster for a couple of small Episcopal churches near Duke University.

Very sweet story. Might I add: Well done Hermione. this Smith deserved what he got.

Thanks! :) Yes - that Hermione is a tough little girl, isn't she?
Very nice story. You should probably expand it. Exploring Hermione's antecedents and background would be fun. I once started something along this line, but never finished it.

Thanks! I'm not sure if I will expand this but will keep it in mind if the Muse wishes.

Cute little tale!
Author's Response: Thanks! :)
I love these responses to Hermione's magic showing - it's so interesting to imagine what her life before Hogwarts must have been like. Good for Hermione, holding her own against that awful bully! And doubly good for her parents, sticking up for her like that! Thanks for a great fic!

It's really nice to see all the varied responses, isn't it? It's so fun to be sharing this with others. :)Thanks for your kind words and your review. :)
Very cute :) For obvious reasons, I'm amused at little "Mick" and the cream eggs. Hermione's parents take the strange explanation a lot more calmly and with a lot more credulity than I might have expected. A very charming fic that highlight's your ever-more-developed writing abilities :)

Squeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad you found it amusing! :) I'd like to think Hermione's parents are open-minded people who only want the best for their precocious child. Thanks much for reading, and for reviewing. :)
I liked the concern you showed by Hermione's parents. I'm sure if this were my situation, I would be just as flustered. It's a good think they were given a hint as to what her future will be like.

I'm sure there are many parents who are concerned when their child is the victim of bullying. And, I'd like to think Hermione's parents are very supportive of her, no matter what she does. Thanks for your review. :)
Good for Hermione for not putting up with the git in her classroom! I'm glad the Drs Granger decided to school her at home until she goes to Hogwarts. Gum in her hair and cream eggs flying around the room is not conducive to learning, so I can appreciate her parents' relief at having read the owl from Minerva!Well done with the prompt!Beth

Indeed - kids can be cruel, and I'm sure it's unsettling to the parents to know their child is being bullied. Thanks for your kind review. :)
That was awesome lyn! It's so awesome to see Hermione putting her foot down at such an early age and not being bullied. Silly teachers! I'm so glad Minerva came to the rescue! Great response to the prompt! Much Love ~ Brena

Thanks, Brena! I'd like to think Hermione was a strong little girl who could defend herself when needed.
Great story, you did the prompt justice! I especially loved how you had Hermiones parents firmly on her side!

Thanks! I'd like to think that Hermione's parents were very supportive of her, and would do their level best to encourage her in any of her endeavours. Thanks for your review. :)
Tee hee, she turned that boy's hair pink.
Response from lyn_f (Author of Little Troublemaker)
Served him right, didn't it? ;)
Turning the bully's hair pink. Excellent! :)
Response from lyn_f (Author of Little Troublemaker)
Glad you liked that. It's a weapon I wished I had when I was growing up ... unfortunately, the chewing gum in the hair was based on experience, and I was one very unhappy girl when my mum had to cut it off :(
Her parent's response seems very reasonable, and Hermione as a precocious child is described to a T. But I love that she's known as the troublemaker, and the other boy is described in somewhat Harry-like terms. AV

:)Well, the creme eggs were based on a real-life experience ... not that a dozen melted on a little boy's head and shoulders, but a friend did receive a creme egg shower at Easter. ;)I'd like to think Hermione's parents were very supportive of her, and would do their level best to fulfill whatever needs she might have. Thanks for your review. :)
