Snow: 31 December 1960
Chapter 3 of 5
MMADfanFilius creates a surprise.
Written for the CR board Yule Drabbles. Prompt word: "snow."
100 words, exclusive the titles.
31 December 1960
Resisting the urge to push the blindfold aside, Pomona brushed some hair from her face.
“How far?”
“Not very!”
Under instructions, Pomona concentrated on not melting a path for them. There had been a heavy snowfall, and afternoon winds had created some drifts well over knee-high. For Filius, they must provide quite an obstacle, but he wasn’t complaining.
“Steps!”
Pomona climbed. Her blindfold vanished.
“Oh, Filius!”
She stood atop a miniature tower; a large castle of glittering snow lay at her feet, sparkling in the moonlight. Charmed fairy lights glowed blue and green against ice turrets.
“Happy New Year, Pomona!”

I can totally relate to Filius and the heat! It's just crazy hot in the South and I could use some snow! He truly was a trooper, though, for going along with Pomona on all those garden tours and then sitting through the lectures. From the sounds of it, though, she showed him her appreciation! I especially liked the ending, with her treating him to something special. Awwwwww.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
It's absolutely sweltering here, too, which put me in the perfect mood to sympathize with Filius.Glad you enjoyed it! I'm hoping to dream of some snow tonight . . .Thanks for the review!

Aw, Filius with a big red hankie is such a cute image! *g*
Lovely, sweet little story about two really sweet characters. I love the interaction you give them. And as for the cold part - well, there's nothing like the first cold/flu/stomach cold of one side showing how a relationship is running... ;o) I prefer ginger tea, though - hot, strong (simmered for 15min) with Honey, followed by a Talisker or two. ;o)
Author's Response: Ginger tea is the best! Freshly grated ginger, steeped in boiling water, yum! Also terrific for nausea and other tummy troubles. I'm sure Pomona put some ginger in her soup. She should have brought him some Talisker. Or maybe some Drambuie. Personally (as I'm vegetarian), if I'm going to have soup for a cold, I go for miso soup. Miso soup with matzo balls is great . . . okay, enough of the cuilnary digression!
I'm glad you enjoyed the little fic! I could just see Filius with his big red hankie! Thanks for the review!
Alcina vom Steinsberg's response: Same reason for me why chicken soup isn't an option. Miso I never tried so far, though. And I do slice the ginger.
Drambuie? Well, why not... have you ever tried Ginger Tam's? I don't know it yet, am waiting for the delivery, but it seems to be THE drink for Minerva. Whisky, Ginger AND a cat on the label *giggle*.
Author's Response: You know, I've seen Ginger Tam's, but never tired it. I'd forgotten the cat on the label! You're right -- that would be the perfect Minerva drink!
LOL Poor little wizard. How sweet of Pomona to make him soup, personally. Funny how he was able to worm his - explain how he came to have her knickers. Ingenious actually for someone so sick.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Well, the truth is always helpful -- it's much easier than trying to keep fabrications straight! haha! (Remember that her underwear came raining down, his unpacking charm having failed? That's how her knickers ended up where they did.) I think Pomona's probably a sort of nurturing kind of person. Thanks for the review! Glad it gave you a good chuckle! Poor Filius! I don't think he's had too much luck in these fics -- though his ice castle worked out okay! haha!
Awww! I'm so glad I stopped by TPP today just to read 'one little story.' I like your sensible Pomona, not taking offense.-Wahoo
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Glad you like Pomona here! Thanks for reviewing, Wahoo! I'm glad that you stopped by and found something fun to read!
Delightful! That made such a pretty picture in my mind. Thanks for sharing these sweet moments with us.-Wahoo
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
I'm glad it made a nice picture for you! Thank you!
Charming! I wonder if McGonagall was also watching a potential sweetheart (the handsome man), or if she is planning to plot solely for Flitiwick's sake. How sweet!-Wahoo
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
It was sheer coincidence (McGonagall is spoken for in this time frame, LOL), but she has had interesting experiences napping out on the grounds before! haha! However, she could easily see why Filius was there and felt bad for the poor guy. Thanks for the review!
This was awesome! LOL, I laughed so hard at his and her reaction to finding his little souvenir; it was perfect. I look forward to more of this. Is almost time to come up with another board for the board, tee hee.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Oh, it definitely is time for a new set of challenges! We've got to get Filius a little further along, after all!I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Filius and Pomona make the cutest couple. Looking forward to the "less awkward circumstances" when Pomona gets her knickers back.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
They just inspire fluff, don't they? I look forward to getting them to those "less awkward circumstances."Thanks for the review! :-)
Filius is so BUSTED!!! That was so funny. Bless his little heart, he kept her black lacy knickers, tee hee. And her response about him giving them back was perfect. Her bringing him the chicken soup was so sweet. Loved it!!!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Too embarrassed to give them back, couldn't bring himself to throw them away, and so he kept them. An unintentional souvenir, but a souvenir! LOL!Glad you liked it!
There might be a tiny little problem. But that's an excuse good enough to meet during holydays...
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Yes, they did begin their holidays with a little problem, didn't they? I'm glad you enjoyed the story! Thank you for reviewing!

This was such a cute story. I can just imagine the look on Filius' face as the frilly undergarments went flying around. And I bet Pomona was in for a shocker when she realized she didn't have her necessities. tee hee.Great job!!!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Yes, and I'm sure that sorting that out and getting the trunks (& contents) back to their correct owners took some time!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Poor guy! I can just see this one, in the Cinemascope of my brain, and Filius' reaction. What a funny picture! This pairing is a slow-growing addiction, isn't it?Please say that there is more FFPS in your futurama of fan-ficciness. I am not a GLM, but I will beg if need be.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
This is just the first of a few Flitwick flashfics -- try saying that three times fast! -- and where there's Filius, there's likely to be Pomona! So no need to beg too hard, though I am motivated by puppy-dog eyes! LOL! And you're right about it being a slow-growing addiction. I had no idea when I wrote my first little drabble about them that I would be writing anything beyond that.
Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed it in the Cinemascope of the brain -- in full Technicolor glory, I'm sure!
Response from dmf1984 (Reviewer)
I do have fabulous brown puppy-dog eyes and am able to use them most effectively.Flitwick flashfics, Flitwick flashfics, Flitwick flashfics. Yeah, cool. Me likey! It is beer o'clock...

That was cute, but poor Filius! LOL

A little bit of a shock, for sure! His first day back home wasn't as restful as he'd thought it would be!

That was funny! *mwahaha* "Frilly underthings rained down..." - I just can picture his reaction to this...
Author's Response: I'm glad it gave you a chuckle! Thanks for the review!
Oh that was sweet. I wonder how they are going to exchange trunks and what might happen when they do. Thank you for introducing me to this pairing, I've enjoyed your other stories about them as well.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I started writing this pairing in some drabbles for a few friends who like it, and now I've grown rather fond of writing the two.

My, if that isn't the nicest surprise one can think of! So lovely - Pomona is one happy girl, isn't she? This is such a sweet piece.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, an ice palace w/ Charmed fairy lights would be a lovely surprise. :-) I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Oh how sweet! He made her an ice castle!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Yes, he's got beyond hiding in trees! hee!I'm glad you liked the ice castle! Thank you for your reviews!
Filius caught spying in a tree, too cute. Good of Minerva to be on hand. *snicker*
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Yes, and good it was Minerva and not someone less, um, discreet! lolThanks for the review!
Oh, this is a delicious surprise! We know who got whose trunks!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
Heheheh! Yep, we know which trunk Pomona was staring into, disbelieving her eyes. Glad you liked it!
How is it that you are able to say so much with so few words? This was fantastic and I'm sure it could blossom into a great one-shot, given the option of using more words. lolI'm always happy to see something new from you!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
This drabble was torture to write and keep to one hundred words, so I'm glad you felt I conveyed a lot with them! LOL!Thank you!
AWW!!!!That was SO ADORABLE!!!Great job!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)

Flitwicks such a great character
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
He is fun, isn't he? :-)
Poor Filius, forced to watch a witch he desires flirting with another man from a secret hiding place - then finding out his collegue was watching him! Not a very good day so far, is it?
Response from MMADfan (Author of Cheering Charms)
No, not a very good day at all -- but at least he didn't get caught in the rain while still in the tree! ;)
