Punctuation Guide Introduction
It makes me very happy that so many authors show a true interest in proper punctuation. One thing about having a moderated site is that it is very important not only to have authors on the same page as far as punctuation and grammar, it is also important to have the admins on the same page.
This is one of the reasons why I have created this Punctuation Guide. I wanted to make it very clear what we as admins expect of our authors as far as punctuation and grammar. This guide is by no means complete. I shall be adding new sections as time goes on and as I realize the areas that need to be addressed. Also, I will be updating and clarifying sections that are already posted.
The other reason I created the Punctuation Guide is to help writers learn the art of punctuation and grammar. All of us have learned different methods in school. This is why I have purchased and read through several references (See Reference List) and compiled the rules into something that is easier to understand. So many reference books are vague or written in language that is difficult to decipher. Others skip over very important points and don't address them at all. When I started this site, I wanted to be helpful to writers, and I hope to accomplish that with this guide.
Please note that the admins on The Petulant Poetess will be following the rules in this guide as they read through submitted stories for validation. We may occasionally refer writers to this area when giving reasons for requested changes. Thank you for your diligence in punctuation/grammar matters.
