For The Boys
by Maria Lynette
T (PG-13)

Nicholas: A Villanelle

His satin voice makes a heart fallen soar

A skillful hand applies beauty in turn

And sketches my essence forevermore

His mosaic mind imparts worlds to explore

Time after time he compels me to yearn

His satin voice makes a heart fallen soar

A smile reveals the joy we have in store

An avid eye, full curves of flesh can learn

And sketches my essence forevermore

He cries my song more poignant than before

I dance beyond the point of no return

His satin voice makes a heart fallen soar

A bare embrace provokes unto the core

A powerful word whispered true, can burn

And sketches my essence forevermore

A commitment to treasure and adore

A pure enduring bond, I strive to earn

His satin voice makes a heart fallen soar

And sketches my essence forevermore

Brian: A Haiku

You were good to me

I was not ready for you

Death came in my place

Peter: A Sestina

I stand in his shadow while he draws with light

And light is drawn forth from the shell of my soul

Its redeemed to blinding desire; a new taste

I pray to be thus consumed until I die

In the thick of bittersweet stories we live

Together and apart in this confused world

In torrid dreams he is a ghost of my hidden world

I sleep blind until he touches me with light

With a brush, a stroke or a caress, I live

Ravenous visions break from my swelling soul

Wrapped tight around his waist, I softly die

Waking to a dull dawn, I recall his taste

The fear in my heart grows real enough to taste

Is my mind pure enough for the simple world?

The twilight is here and a song will soon die

When it goes, will I lose this amazing light?

The thought threatens to weather away my soul

Will I sing nothing more as long as I live?

I have embraced the torment with which I live

A stolen touch may have the most luscious taste

Veiled glances are entertaining to the soul

Take pleasure where you can in this fleeting world

I revel in his shadow while he paints my light

May my feelings never fade away or die

I long to give him a wicked way to die

The little death is where we can truly live

I hunger to embrace and feast on his light

Taking a deep breath, I desire a sweet taste

A few moments of joy are worth the whole world

One single moment with him is worth my soul

Endless imitations of life tempt the soul

If only I could have it all when I die

Wed be different people in another world

But I must be nearer to the life I live

Or else there might not be this brilliant light

I risk losing it to a false sense of taste

I temper my soul while he writes measured light

Let desire die for an abstract time and taste

A dead world is a chance to completely live

Thomas: A Senryu

You scoff as I cling

But roles reverse and you cry

The last laugh is mine

Arthur: An Etheree

First

Union

A mistake

My sad mistake

His bitter mistake

My career and planning

His vices and late-night fun

Im burned out and along for the ride

Hes wasting potential, time, and love

Were done, hes unhappy, and Im sorry

Christopher: A Cinquain

Rebound

Once loved

Talking, dancing, touching

Faded listlessly with distance

Rebound

Nathan: A Tritina

Back then the dark future always seemed bright

Our pure intimacy made us feel free

We gathered with friends and enjoyed the ride

After school, we would all go for a ride

Out of control, pretentious, and bright

The most fun around town was always free

Now work and home may not appear as free

But crowding deceits dim during the ride

Never missing the past that still shines bright

The path I ride is just as free and bright

Timothy: An Acrostic

Tawdry was my life while you used my loneliness and gave me nothing

Ridiculous was the way you squandered your talent and my resources

Apathetic was how I felt for kissing him while you screwed her

Sad was me clinging for the wrong reasons; all of my friends were yours

Heavy was my heart when I saw you as a loser for the first time

Nicholas J: A Sonnet

You were a handsome boy of seventeen

Admired, witty, and wise for your years

I was still juvenile, reckless, and green

We had angst, fun, and love amid young fears

Through longing from a woman twice our age

Through lusting of a man even older

Our convoluted flame hastened to rage

It became more decadent and bolder

Together disregarding convention

We played frivolously with our romance

Turning it into negative tension

Two innocent hearts never had a chance

I meant no ill will or hurt toward you

And I am glad you found love that is true

Timothy M: Lines

I loved you when you were my friend and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were a perfectionist and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were my boyfriend and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were her boyfriend and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were my prom date and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were her boyfriend and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were a pothead and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were her lover and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were a military man and you were a douchebag

I loved you when you were a husband and you were a douchebag . . .

I love you now, wondering if you are still the same charming douchebag
