The war was over, and things were getting back to a sense of normalcy. Kingsley Shacklebolt was now the new Minister of Magic, and he was using some of his time to think up new and unusual ways to punish people who had survived the war but who had highly contributed to the death and destruction that Voldemort had caused while he had reigned.

He did not agree with sending people to Azkaban, especially since they could not longer control the Dementors. To him, object lessons were much better. Each person was given a proper punishment depending on their crimes and whether or not they reformed. But no matter what happened to them, they would always remember their punishment..

For example, Dolores Umbridge was transformed into a quill pen and given to a Muggle-born student to use due to her punishment of Harry Potter and her running of the Muggle-born Registration Commission. A lot of the information about her reign of terror and others’ reign of terror was found in Dolores Umbridge's desk.

For Albert Runcorn, who had been more evil than Dolores, Kingsley thought long and hard of what kind of punishment to give him. Finally, he thought of it. That day Kingsley took home a fluffy new sock for his new puppy to play with.

He thought that once Runcorn’s punishment was up, it would reform him much more than a lifetime in Azkaban ever would.

Prompt from rdholmantx: Albert Runcorn, Dolores Umbridge's Desk, and a sock
